Bairds Bayou Boat RampThe boat ramp on Bairds Bayou [N30"05.749', W094"04.626'] gives you easy access to the Neches ox bow just north of the Beaumont Yatch Club. This oxbow opens to the Neches River at [N30"06.215', W94"04.849'] and [N30"06.191', W094"04.928']. These two opening are very close together on the Neches and almost appear to open to the same part of the oxbox. They do not, however. The opening to the south is shallow in places and opens to the south of the oxbow. The opening to the north is wide and is you best easy entrance from the Neches. The major part of the oxbox offers fairly deep water and can provide a good place to excape the wind. It make over a half mile loop from the Neches. You return from the oxbow to the Baird Bayou boat ramp to the southeast of the oxbow under the Interstate 10 bridge [N30"07.48', W094' 04.626']. You can also use this boat ram to travel southeast having the short option of traveling back to the aqueduct at the first cut [N30"05.703', W094"04.134] or you can take a long trip back to the water canal at cut [N30"05.662', W094" 04.183']. Once you hit the water canal, you can travel down the canal southeast about 2.5 miles and return to the Neches at N30' 04.776', W094" 03.123']. You will have some water pipes to go under so a small boat is necessary. Also, you should plan to return the same was or plan on a very long return trip if you choose to come back on the Neches. |
