Martin Dies Jr. State Park

July 3, 2004

It was a holiday weekend, but the traffic on Steinhagen Lake was not too bad. We entered the lake from the boat ramp at the Cherokee Unit right on State Road 190.
The dock and ramp at the park provide enough room for one boat at a time to launched, but there is a low bank that makes it easy to slip a kayak or canoe in the water. The lake provides an abundance of shallow water with the passion flowers in full bloom.
Christine caught more than a dozen fish...and they were all not lunkers like the bass in this picture. :)
Ray headed to the north side of Steinhagen and took the picture to the right.
Mr. Turtle stayed up in the grass so we could take her picture.
